Role Overview

As a Business Development Representative (BDR) Intern at Campbell Technology Advisors, you’ll gain hands-on experience in outbound prospecting, modern ERP sales strategies, and the inner workings of a high-performing advisory team. This internship is designed for students or recent graduates interested in financial technology, sales, and business development.

You’ll learn how to leverage tools like Salesforce, Outlook, LinkedIn, and phone outreach to identify potential clients and build relationships with finance leaders. You’ll work alongside experienced BDRs and advisors, gaining exposure to the full sales cycle and contributing to real pipeline development in the Sage Intacct ecosystem.

Onboarding snapshot

  • Weeks 1-3: join other new SDRs/BDRs in an onboarding class designed to teach you about systems, competitive landscapes and how to sell Sage.
  • Week 4: witness what you learned in weeks 1-3 by shadowing other BDRs.
  • Weeks 5-12: ramp up period, with the support of your manager and team, progressing toward being fully independent.

How success will be measured

Your goal will be to create sales opportunities for Account Executives. You’ll do this by finding prospects then getting a meeting with them to teach them about Sage. After that, the Account Executive will take over.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting & Lead Generation

  • Support outbound prospecting efforts through phone, email, and LinkedIn outreach.
  • Assist in researching target accounts and building contact lists of CFOs, Controllers, and Finance Leaders.
  • Help design messaging sequences and campaigns to engage decision-makers and introduce our services.
  • Shadow live prospect calls and email campaigns to learn effective outreach techniques.

Pipeline Support

  • Assist with qualifying leads and updating opportunity records in Salesforce.
  • Collaborate on outreach strategies that align with weekly goals and campaign objectives.
  • Document outreach activities and help track follow-ups, meetings, and lead stages.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Participate in team standups and sales strategy sessions with full-time advisors and BDRs.
  • Gain experience speaking with professionals in the accounting and finance space.
  • Contribute ideas to improve outreach scripts, email copy, and LinkedIn messaging sequences.

Learning & Development

  • Receive mentorship and coaching on outbound sales techniques and business communication.
  • Develop foundational knowledge of Sage Intacct and financial advisory services.
  • Gain exposure to real-world B2B software sales processes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s program in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong interest in financial technology, consulting, or business development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and coachable with a positive, proactive mindset.
  • Familiarity with tools like LinkedIn, Microsoft Outlook, or CRM platforms is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn, take feedback, and work collaboratively in a team setting.
